ABILITY WEST

Ability West is a charitable organisation that has been supporting people with complex intellectual, physical and multiple disabilities for more than six decades. Founded by families seeking better provision for their children, the charity now works in partnership with the Health Service Executive to deliver a wide range of disability-support services, empowering over 600 children and adults to live their best lives.

Operating from more than 60 centres across Galway City and County, Ability West offers specialist programmes such as the Beechwood Day Service, weekly drumming sessions and dedicated support for families. The organisation also acts as patron to four special schools - St Joseph's (Galway), Tigh Nan Dooley (Carraroe), St Oliver's (Tuam) and St Teresa's (Ballinasloe) - reinforcing its commitment to education and community integration. With a workforce of over 630 staff, Ability West continues to champion inclusive care and personal development for the people it serves.
