Student Sport Ireland (SSI) is the national governing body for higher-education sport across the island of Ireland. Representing 22 affiliated higher-education institutions, more than 240 000 full-time students and over 800 campus sports clubs, SSI is recognised by Sport Ireland, Sport Northern Ireland and is affiliated with the Federation of Irish Sport, the European University Sports Association and the International University Sports Federation.

SSI delivers a comprehensive programme of league and cup competitions in nine sports, coordinating around 200 student teams and 2 000 athletes each academic year. It also manages the World University Games hub, provides an up-to-date events calendar, and runs development initiatives such as the Student Ambassador network and the Women's Student Coaching Academy, which aim to boost participation, wellbeing and the pipeline of future coaches.

Through its partnership with bodies such as the Irish Rugby Football Union and its involvement in major events like the 2025 World University Games, SSI creates lasting sporting experiences, promotes active participation and leads the evolution of university sport throughout Ireland.
