PIETA HOUSE

Pieta House is a national charity dedicated to preventing suicide and supporting those affected by self-harm or bereavement. Since its launch in 2006, the organisation has helped more than 70,000 people in suicidal distress, operating twenty free-of-charge centres across Ireland. Pieta's core offering is a 24-hour Crisis Helpline, staffed by qualified therapists who also respond to text messages, ensuring that anyone in need can reach a listening ear at any time of day or night. In addition to immediate crisis support, Pieta provides free therapy services, specialised bereavement support, LGBT+ services and a suite of education and training programmes-including the Resilience Academy, Amber Flag Initiative and Signs of Suicide workshops-to build long-term resilience in individuals and communities.

The charity's work is sustained through corporate partnerships, fundraising challenges and community events such as the "Darkness into Light" sunrise gathering. By offering a comprehensive, no-referral-required service model, Pieta House empowers people to move from crisis to hope, lighting up the darkness for some of the most vulnerable members of Irish society.
