The Traditional Chinese Medicine Council of Ireland Company Limited By Guarantee, operating as the Acupuncture Council of Ireland (ACI), is the premier professional body overseeing the regulation and development of acupuncture practice throughout the island. Established in 2005, the Council maintains a nationally recognised register of more than 500 fully qualified acupuncturists, ensuring that every member meets rigorous standards of training, insurance and ethical conduct.

ACI's core services include a searchable public directory that helps patients locate accredited practitioners by name or location, and a suite of continuing-education requirements - 30 hours of training and regular medical conference attendance - to keep members' skills current. The Council also provides members with professional indemnity and public-liability cover, and liaises with major health insurers such as Aviva, VHI, Laya and HSA to facilitate patient claims. Through its Code of Ethics and Code of Practice, enforced by an independent Executive Committee, ACI offers patients confidence and clinicians a trusted community for collaboration, innovation and the integration of traditional Chinese medicine within Irish healthcare.
