Company Description
The Drama League of Ireland (DLI) is the national umbrella organisation for amateur theatre, dedicated to supporting, nurturing and enhancing the aspirations of practitioners across the whole island of Ireland. As a charitable company limited by guarantee, DLI offers its members a comprehensive suite of services - from advice on setting up a drama group or sourcing costumes, to a well-stocked library of classic and contemporary plays and a discounted group-insurance scheme.
Key programmes include the ACDI/DLI One-Act Festival, which runs a vibrant circuit of competitions, and seasonal training schools - a week-long Summer School and a three-day Winter School - that deliver intensive drama workshops. DLI also runs an annual play-writing competition in partnership with the Ramor Theatre and provides funding support for theatre workshops, free promotion of members' events, and regular updates through its member magazine and e-newsletter.
With a membership base second only to the GAA in size, DLI is the go-to resource for amateur societies seeking professional guidance, educational opportunities and a network that celebrates the magic of theatre throughout Ireland.
