Irish Historical Studies Publications Company Limited By Guarantee is the publishing arm behind *Irish Historical Studies*, the long-standing joint journal of the Irish Historical Society and the Ulster Society for Irish Historical Studies. Founded in 1938, the journal provides a scholarly platform for original research on Irish history, articles on the teaching of the subject, edited primary documents, critical bibliographies, source guides and reviews of relevant books and periodicals.

Since partnering with Cambridge University Press in 2015, the bi-annual journal has continued to reach a wide academic audience, with each issue meticulously copy-edited and overseen by a distinguished editorial team and a fourteen-member International Advisory Board. In addition to its regular publications, the organisation supports emerging scholars through its First Book Prize, awarded annually to authors resident on the island of Ireland for outstanding works on Irish or Irish-diasporic history.

Operating as a registered charity, Irish Historical Studies serves historians, educators and students across Ireland, fostering rigorous debate and the dissemination of high-quality historical scholarship.
