SPLEODAR SAMHRAIDH AGUS GEIMHRIDH TEORANTA

Spleodar Samhraidh agus Geimhridh Teoranta is a not‑for‑profit Irish‑language youth organisation that delivers immersive residential summer courses across the heart of Connemara. Drawing on more than two decades of experience, the charity runs three intensive sessions each year – June, July and August – for pupils from 4th class in primary school through to 5th year (pre‑Leaving Cert) in secondary school. The courses are hosted in six distinct locations along the west coast, providing a safe, supervised environment where students live with host families, attend daily language classes and take part in a varied programme of cultural and leadership activities.

Beyond the summer term, Spleodar keeps the momentum going with a calendar of annual events and up to seventeen student clubs spread throughout the country, giving participants the chance to build on the Irish they have learned. The organisation places a strong emphasis on safety and well‑being: qualified teachers, senior staff and dedicated “cinnirí” (leaders) are present at all times, and the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht regularly inspects the accommodation to ensure standards are met. Through a blend of language immersion, community spirit and plenty of craic, Spleodar helps young people develop both fluency in Irish and valuable personal skills.
