Company Description
Cré - the Composting and Anaerobic Digestion Association of Ireland - is a non-profit association of public and private organisations that champions the biological-treatment sector across the Republic of Ireland. Founded in 2001, Cré originally represented the fledgling composting industry and has since expanded to include anaerobic digestion, helping members meet government waste-diversion and bio-energy targets while creating sustainable, indigenous jobs.
The association's flagship offering is the Cré Compostable Certification Scheme, the only Irish third-party programme that verifies compostable products can be placed in food-waste (brown) bins and safely processed in industrial composting facilities. In addition, Cré provides a range of support services - from quality assurance and EU research coordination to training courses and an annual conference - all aimed at raising standards, fostering innovation and promoting high-quality outputs throughout the sector.
Through its membership network, advocacy work and specialist certification, Cré plays a pivotal role in building a greener, circular economy for Ireland's waste-management and bio-energy landscape.
