Company Description
North West Parents and Friends Association for Persons with Intellectual Disability (NWPF) is a voluntary community organisation rooted in Sligo and Leitrim. For over sixty years the association has championed the rights, health and social wellbeing of people with intellectual disabilities and special needs, always placing personal dignity at the heart of its work.
NWPF delivers a comprehensive suite of services across the region. Its preschool provision welcomes children from 2 years 10 months up to their fifth birthday, while adult day services are tailored to the diverse needs of younger and ageing service users. A specialised respite unit offers short-term care for families in Sligo, Leitrim and west Cavan, and dedicated educational programmes support pupils with mild, moderate/severe and profound learning disabilities. In addition, the association operates community group homes for adults and aligns with the HSE's "New Directions" framework, ensuring twelve essential supports are available to day-service users.
Through these programmes NWPF continues to foster inclusive communities, providing families and individuals with the confidence and support they need to thrive.
