Limerick Marine Search & Rescue Service Company Limited By Guarantee (LMSR) is a volunteer-run marine rescue organisation that has been safeguarding the waterways of Limerick since 1986. Born from the tragic loss of a young boy in the Parteen waters, founders Jimmy Connors and Tony Cusack - both experienced sports divers - convened a meeting in December 1986 that led to the creation of a dedicated rescue unit for the city's unpredictable rivers and canals.

Today LMSR operates from a modern headquarters on the Dock Road and maintains a network of pontoons equipped with donated rescue boats, enabling rapid response to emergencies on the water. The 26 committed volunteers provide 24-hour search and rescue services, and they also run summer camps that teach water safety to both adults and children in a supportive, hands-on environment. By combining state-of-the-art equipment with a strong community spirit, LMSR continues to be a trusted lifeline for anyone navigating Limerick's waterways.
