Domestic Violence Response (DVR) is a Galway-city and county-wide service dedicated to empowering, healing and supporting women affected by domestic abuse. Operating on a free and confidential basis, DVR assists women who are currently in, leaving, or have left an abusive relationship, helping them explore options and make positive changes in a safe, non-judgemental environment.

The organisation offers a suite of specialised services, including one-to-one counselling, advocacy and accompaniment to appointments, and targeted workshops and educational programmes for women who have exited abusive relationships. DVR also extends its support to family members and friends who are concerned, and provides tailored assistance for older or vulnerable women, including those experiencing elder abuse. In addition to direct support, DVR delivers awareness-raising and training sessions to schools, third-level colleges, community groups and other organisations, promoting a broader understanding of domestic abuse and coercive control.

Guided by principles of solidarity, continual learning and fair, supportive employment, DVR's mission is to identify and respond to the needs of women and children in County Galway, ensuring that help is always a right, not a charity.
