Company Description
Bantry Inshore Search and Rescue Association (BISRA) is a registered charity that delivers an emergency lifeboat service for incidents on or near the water in the Bantry Bay community. As a declared resource of the Irish Coastguard, BISRA’s operations are regulated and coordinated with the national coastguard, the Irish Coast Guard & Coastal Rescue Service, the RNLI, the HSE Ambulance Service, the County Fire Brigade and An Garda Síochána, ensuring a seamless response to maritime emergencies.
The association’s core service centres on its lifeboat, crewed by dedicated volunteers who are trained to launch rapid rescues, provide on‑scene medical assistance and support other rescue agencies. In addition to the on‑water response, BISRA runs a robust on‑shore support network, organising fundraising and community‑engagement activities that sustain the service and invite new volunteers to join the crew or assist with fundraising efforts.
By combining professional rescue capabilities with a welcoming, volunteer‑driven ethos, Bantry Inshore Search and Rescue Association safeguards lives around Bantry Bay while fostering a strong sense of local involvement and pride.
