ROCKMOUNT CARE CENTRE

Rockmount Care Centre is a community‑based day‑care facility situated in the village of Kilgarvan, serving older adults from Kilgarvan, Killarney, Sneem and the wider Kenmare area. Since opening in 2003, the centre provides a warm, homely environment where respite care, dementia support and person‑centred services are delivered in partnership with statutory bodies and the Kilgarvan Community Partnership.

Operating six days a week, Rockmount offers a comprehensive suite of medical and social services. Qualified nurses provide personal care, blood‑pressure monitoring and weekly GP visits, while physiotherapy, chiropody (monthly) and occupational‑therapy referrals address physical wellbeing. Mental‑health awareness programmes and specialised support for Alzheimer’s and other dementias ensure each client’s needs are met with dignity and respect. Wheelchair‑accessible transport is available, enabling full participation regardless of mobility challenges.

Under the leadership of manager Mary Hussey, a seasoned nurse with a BSc in Nursing, the dedicated staff foster strong bonds with families, promoting communication and continuity of care. Rockmount Care Centre remains committed to enhancing the quality of life for its service users while keeping them rooted in their own community.
