MAYNOOTH COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT PROJECT

Maynooth Community Employment Project is a Department of Social Protection-sponsored community employment scheme that has been supporting the Maynooth area since 2001. The organisation offers work experience and upskilling opportunities for long-term unemployed individuals, helping them develop practical skills while contributing to local projects.

A flagship initiative is the free monthly Maynooth Newsletter, a community-focused newspaper that delivers local news, political updates, event reports and photographs. Production of the newsletter doubles as a hands-on training platform for scheme participants, and the project also welcomes articles from community groups. In addition, the team maintains the Harbour area of Maynooth and the facilities of Maynooth Town Football Club, providing essential upkeep for these public spaces.

Based in Maynooth, County Kildare, the project also curates an online archive of past newsletters, a collection of historic photographs and tourist information to help residents and visitors alike explore the town. Through these varied activities, Maynooth Community Employment Project creates meaningful employment pathways while strengthening community ties.
