GALWAY FLYING CLUB, COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE

Galway Flying Club, a Company Limited by Guarantee, is the longest-operating flying club in Ireland, celebrating over 75 years of keeping the dream of flight alive in the west of the country. Based at Galway Airport, Carnmore, the club brings together around 100 members from Galway and the surrounding counties who share a passion for aviation. Operated entirely by volunteers, the club maintains two modern four-seat Cessna aircraft that are used exclusively by fully trained members.

As an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) recognised by the Irish Aviation Authority, Galway Flying Club delivers high-quality instruction up to the Light Aircraft Pilot Licence (LAPL) and, more recently, to the level of Flight Instructor, all in line with EASA standards. With seven qualified instructors and a strong community ethos, the club offers a relaxed, weekend-focused learning environment that prioritises safety and enjoyment over commercial pressures. Its commitment to excellence has been recognised nationally, earning the Sport Aviation Award twice and featuring in an RTE documentary on the Nationwide programme.
