ATHEA COMMUNITY COUNCIL COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE

Athea Community Council Company Limited by Guarantee is a volunteer-run organisation dedicated to enhancing community life in the village of Athea, County Limerick. The Council owns and manages a central building on Con Colbert Street, which is being transformed - with almost €500,000 of Town & Village Renewal funding and additional support from SSE Renewables - into a modern, energy-efficient hub offering meeting rooms, workshop spaces and fully accessible facilities for local groups, the CE Scheme and wider rural regeneration initiatives.

Beyond the hub, the Council runs a range of community-focused programmes: a weekly Lotto draw that raises funds for capital projects, a graveyard fund maintained through local collections, and regular social events such as the popular GAA Quiz Night. A two-bedroom apartment is also being added to the building to provide a sustainable income stream for the Council's activities. Through these efforts, Athea Community Council provides a vibrant, inclusive centre that supports the social, cultural and economic wellbeing of the Athea community.
