BREAKING THROUGH COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE

Breaking Through CLG is a national, non-profit charity founded in 2000 that works to strengthen the support network for young people leaving the care system. Based in Leixlip, County Kildare, the organisation is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and overseen by a voluntary board and a small team of dedicated staff.

The core of Breaking Through's work is the Irish Aftercare Network - a free, nationwide community for professionals who assist care leavers as they transition to independent adulthood. By offering membership to anyone working with this vulnerable group, the network facilitates peer-to-peer learning, resource sharing and collaborative advocacy across the country.

In addition, Breaking Through coordinates evidence-based suicide-intervention training on behalf of the HSE, delivering programmes such as safeTALK, ASIST and Understanding Self to healthcare workers, educators, community leaders and volunteers in regions from Dublin to Donegal. These initiatives aim to equip participants with the skills to recognise, engage with and support individuals at risk, helping to build safer, more compassionate communities.
