Company Description
Blakestown & Mountview Youth Initiative (BMYI) is a non-profit charity founded in 1998 that works to empower young people and their families across the Dublin 15 community. Funded by the HSE, the Blanchardstown Local Drug-Alcohol Task Force and Tusla, BMYI delivers a three-strand approach - youth, family and educational support - underpinned by the principles of empowerment, inclusion, equality and voluntary participation.
The organisation runs a wide range of evidence-based programmes, from drug-prevention, alcohol-awareness and mental-health workshops to physical-education classes, relationships and sexuality education, and online-safety sessions. Family services include mediation, mindfulness, communication skills and signposting to further support, while employability and life-skills training cover problem-solving, financial management, leadership and effective communication. BMYI also provides targeted educational assistance such as exam-study support, digital safety, civic education and 3rd-level guidance. Working closely with local schools, Tusla, Pieta House, CAMHS and other community partners, BMYI creates a holistic, collaborative network that helps vulnerable and disadvantaged groups - including Traveller, Roma, homeless, LGBT+, migrant and addiction-affected families - to thrive.
