CARRIGANASS CASTLE

Carriganass Castle is a historic attraction set on the outskirts of Kealkill village in the heart of West Cork. Managed as a restored ruin, the site offers visitors a chance to explore the dramatic story of the O'Sullivan Bere clan and its role in the Flight of the Earls. Open daily during the summer months from 9 am to 5 pm, the castle grounds serve as a welcoming base for walkers and heritage enthusiasts alike, providing well-marked circular routes and a convenient link to the Sheep's Head Way.

In addition to guided access to the castle's tower - built around 1541 by Dermot O'Sullivan Beare - Carriganass Castle operates the Riverside Coffee Shop, giving guests a pleasant spot to rest and refresh while they wander the surrounding trails.
