Ballymun Educational Support Team (BEST) is a charitable company limited by guarantee that works to enrich the educational experience of children and young people across the Ballymun community. With a child‑centred ethos, BEST delivers tailored, evidence‑based support to learners aged 4‑18 who face complex needs arising from inter‑generational trauma, mental health challenges, poverty, drug use, violence and other cycles of crisis.

The organisation provides three core strands of service. In‑school support offers targeted interventions for pupils identified through the SCP Intake framework, while out‑of‑school support delivers highly specialised assistance to address broader personal and family needs. In addition, BEST runs universal programmes that bring evidence‑informed interventions to whole classes or whole‑school groups, fostering a positive climate for learning and personal development.

Guided by values of best practice, engagement, support and transformation, BEST’s mission is to help young people in Ballymun establish a healthy footing in society and achieve their full potential. Their work is rooted in the belief that every child deserves safety, stability and the opportunity to become a change‑agent in their own life.
