Ballyhoura Rural Services (BRS) is a charitable organisation founded in 2010 to tackle physical, social and emotional isolation in the East Limerick and North Cork region. Their core mission is to identify and support individuals-particularly older adults-who are at risk of feeling cut off from community life, offering a friendly, reliable presence that helps rebuild connections.

The charity delivers its impact through two flagship programmes. The Befriending service provides weekly companionship visits, giving isolated residents a regular, caring contact and a chance to share conversation and activities. The Social Farm initiative blends health and wellness support with the therapeutic benefits of nature, operating the Doon Social Farm Café and Shop where visitors can enjoy freshly baked goods and locally-grown organic produce in a welcoming, community-focused setting.

Volunteers are central to BRS's work, and anyone wishing to make a lasting difference in their local area is encouraged to join the team.
