PIPCO RSG COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE

PIPCO Research Studies Group (RSG) is a not-for-profit company that administers and channels contributory funds from its members into a wide range of geological and geophysical research programmes. By coordinating new data acquisition - from shallow drilling and seabed sampling to seismic surveys, sidescan sonar and sub-bottom profiling - the group supports regional studies, research-cruise sponsorship and scholarship funding, while ensuring projects do not duplicate existing work.

Beyond project delivery, PIPCO trades in research data, using the proceeds to expand its research portfolio and to provide access to reports for interested parties. Since the Government's Climate Action Plan of 2019, the group has adopted a four-year strategy aimed at underpinning Ireland's transition to a decarbonised energy system. It offers a collaborative forum for Irish, European and international researchers, fostering the development of an Irish-based energy-transition service sector and creating job opportunities for local scientists and former oil-and-gas personnel.

Through partnerships with like-minded JIP groups, local organisations and government agencies, PIPCO continually seeks co-funding and new project proposals to sustain and grow its evidence-based research agenda.
