Company Description
The Gerard Manley Hopkins Society Company Limited by Guarantee is a charitable organisation dedicated to celebrating and advancing the life and works of the Victorian poet-priest Gerard Manley Hopkins. Its flagship activity is the annual Gerard Manley Hopkins International Literary Festival, most recently staged from 24-30 July 2026 at Newbridge College Theatre in County Kildare. The Society invites scholars to submit twenty-minute papers for the festival's Call for Papers, curates visual-art exhibitions, and programmes concerts featuring artists such as Irish fiddler Frankie Gavin and Swedish pianist Hans Pålsson.
Beyond the festival, the Society maintains the Gerard Manley Hopkins Archive (1987-2024), a digital repository of lectures, manuscripts, and research topics that supports academics, students and poetry enthusiasts worldwide. By providing a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue, live performance and scholarly resources, the Society nurtures a vibrant community of readers, artists and researchers who share a passion for Hopkins's distinctive language and spiritual vision.
