Company Description
Irish Seed Savers Association (ISSA) is a not-for-profit environmental organisation dedicated to conserving Ireland's genetic food-crop heritage. Since 1991 the association has built and maintained the nation's only living public seedbank, safeguarding over 800 open-pollinated vegetable varieties and more than 180 heritage Irish apple trees. By cultivating, preserving and sharing these seeds and trees, ISSA helps ensure that healthy, nutritious food can be grown within sustainable systems that support biodiversity.
The association offers a range of specialist products and services. Its online shop features organic heirloom seed sets, bareroot and potted heritage apple trees, and exclusive supporter-only seed varieties. Seasonal workshops provide hands-on training from experienced tutors, while supporters receive free rare seeds, discounts on workshops and trees, free farm entry and a bi-annual newsletter. All proceeds are reinvested into the seed and field bank, research, and projects that protect Ireland's diverse crop legacy for future generations.
