GAISCE - GRADAM AN UACHTARAIN - THE PRESIDENT'S AWARD

Gaisce - The President's Award is Ireland's national youth development programme, offering a structured, challenge-based pathway for young people aged 14-25 to discover their potential and make a lasting impact in their communities. Launched in 1985 and now celebrating its 40th anniversary, the award is a direct invitation from President Catherine Connolly for participants to set ambitious personal goals and achieve them through a blend of adventure, skill-building and community service.

The programme is divided into Bronze, Silver and Gold levels, each requiring participants to complete a portfolio, an adventure journey, a residential project and three challenge areas - personal skill, physical recreation and community involvement. Gaisce also runs specialised residential weekends such as the "Roots and Shoots" Gold Residential, where participants collaborate on projects linked to the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to the award routes, the organisation provides information sessions, a vibrant blog of news and stories, and a strong social-media presence to inspire and support its members.

Based in Dublin and operating nationwide, Gaisce works with schools, youth groups and volunteers across the Republic, helping thousands of young Irish people each year to dream big, develop confidence and leave a positive legacy.
