COLLEGE OF ANAESTHESIOLOGISTS OF IRELAND

The College of Anaesthesiologists of Ireland is the professional body that drives excellence in anaesthesia, intensive care and pain medicine across the island. Its core mission is to optimise patient-centred care by providing specialist doctors with high-quality postgraduate training, continuous education and lifelong learning opportunities.

Governed by a College Council, the organisation sets training standards, oversees accreditation by the Medical Council of Ireland and delivers a full suite of educational programmes, workshops and events. The Training department runs the specialist postgraduate curriculum, while the Education team organises conferences such as the annual CAI Congress, the Emerging Leaders Conference and OSCE examinations. A dedicated Wellbeing, Health and Resilience Committee looks after the mental and physical health of trainees and practising anaesthesiologists throughout their careers.

Through these integrated services, the College supports doctors at every stage of their professional journey, fostering a culture of high-quality practice and collaborative development for the benefit of patients throughout Ireland.
