ENGAGING DEMENTIA

Engaging Dementia is a dedicated Irish organisation that supports people living with dementia, their families and care professionals through education, community outreach and specialised resources. By offering a range of courses and workshops, the charity equips caregivers with the latest evidence-based practices, while its Irish Dementia Café Network creates welcoming, peer-led spaces where individuals can connect, share experiences and find local support.

In addition to training, Engaging Dementia runs the internationally recognised Sonas Programme - a communication-focused approach developed in 1990 to enhance quality of life for those with cognitive impairment. The organisation also curates a shop of carefully selected books, DVDs and CDs for both casual readers and academics, and maintains an online resource library. Regular events, such as the 17th International Dementia Conference, bring together experts to discuss emerging research and best practice. Their commitment to impact was recognised with the 2020 Charity Impact Award, underscoring their role as a leading voice in dementia care across Ireland.
