MUINTIR NA TIRE

Muintir na Tíre is Ireland's national voluntary association dedicated to the promotion of community development. Founded in 1937 by Canon Hayes, the organisation works with both rural and urban areas to strengthen the capacity of local people to shape their own social, economic, cultural and environmental futures.

Through its long-standing partnership with An Garda Síochána, Muintir na Tíre runs the Community Alert programme, offering practical, skills-based training in crime prevention, community safety and care. The group also produces a range of specialist resources - from the Farm Security Handbook and Severe Weather Ready Guide to carbon-monoxide alarm schemes and text-alert rebates - all designed to empower citizens with the knowledge they need to protect themselves and their neighbours. Regular newsletters, blog posts and the Cairde Project video keep members informed and connected.

Operating on a national scale, Muintir na Tíre serves communities across the Republic of Ireland, helping volunteers, local groups and public bodies collaborate for lasting, positive change.
