Buíon Phort Láirge, formerly Waterford Area Partnership, is a volunteer-led, not-for-profit Local Development Company that has been serving the Waterford region since 1995. Co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union, Buíon works in partnership with community and voluntary groups to deliver programmes that improve quality of life and promote sustainable development across the area.

The organisation offers a broad suite of services aimed at disadvantaged and unemployed individuals, including employment support, training and placement opportunities, and free start-your-own-business mentoring. It also provides access to education and lifelong-learning programmes, personal-development activities, and targeted support for children, families and Deis schools. Buíon further empowers local community groups and social-circular enterprises, helping them increase participation, enhance sustainability and meet governance requirements.

Guided by values of equality, diversity and inclusion, Buíon takes a bottom-up approach, welcoming collaboration from anyone who shares its vision of a thriving, resilient community. Its work spans rural and community development, food-poverty relief, climate action and the promotion of social enterprise throughout Waterford.
