GAY SWITCHBOARD DUBLIN COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE is a Dublin‑based charitable organisation that offers confidential, non‑judgemental listening and support to the LGBTQIA+ community, their families, friends and allies. Operating seven days a week, the Switchboard runs a series of dedicated helplines staffed by trained volunteers who bring specialised knowledge and lived‑experience to each call, ensuring callers receive tailored information and emotional support. While anyone may phone the service on any day, the dedicated lines are encouraged for those seeking help in specific areas, and the organisation also provides email support and plans to re‑introduce a live chat/instant‑messaging option.

The Switchboard’s ethos centres on active listening, harm reduction and absolute confidentiality, recognising that the 2015 Marriage Equality Referendum was only a step in a longer journey toward healing and acceptance. By offering a safe space for people grappling with gender identity, sexual orientation or internalised stigma, the service helps to alleviate trauma and foster resilience throughout the year, 365 days a year. Donations fund the day‑to‑day running costs and enable the development of new projects, ensuring the helpline can continue to serve Ireland’s diverse queer community.
