Company Description
The African Cultural Project (ACP) is Ireland's leading not-for-profit organisation dedicated to "telling Africa's story". Based in Dublin and operating as a charitable company, ACP creates a fresh, critical perspective on African culture, politics and society for Irish audiences. By publishing rigorous comment, analysis and objective features, the project fills a gap left by conventional media, offering informed debate on the continent's challenges and its remarkable resilience.
ACP's multidisciplinary programme spans events, education and youth arts. It organises cultural festivals-including the historic Africa Festival (1995-1998)-and runs school- and library-based educational initiatives that align with the Irish curriculum. The organisation also curates a Festival of Literature for younger readers, produces research and publications, and collaborates with major institutions such as the National Concert Hall, the Chester Beatty Library, the Irish Writers' Centre, local authority arts officers, Alliance Française Dublin and university language departments. Through these activities, ACP serves educators, students, artists and the wider public, fostering a deeper, more nuanced understanding of Africa across Ireland.
