WATERFORD RAPE CRISIS CENTRE COMPANY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE

Waterford Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre (WRSAC) is a charitable organisation operating as a Company Limited by Guarantee. Based in Waterford City, the centre offers a safe, confidential space for survivors of rape, sexual assault and abuse, as well as for family members and friends, from the age of 14 upwards.

The service portfolio includes one-to-one counselling delivered by professionally qualified, IACP-accredited therapists with specialist training in sexual violence, alongside practical accompaniment to the Gardai, the Special Assault and Trauma Unit, courts and other appointments. WRSAC also provides information on legal and medical pathways, advocacy with law-enforcement and judicial bodies, and runs education, training and awareness-raising programmes for the wider community.

Founded in 1984, the centre has evolved from a women-only service to an inclusive hub that empowers survivors to regain control of their lives, guided by a philosophy of equal, respectful partnership between counsellor and client.
