SOLAS is the State agency responsible for shaping Ireland’s Further Education and Training (FET) landscape. By overseeing the development of a world‑class sector, SOLAS ensures that high‑quality learning opportunities are available in every community, giving individuals of all ages a clear pathway to acquire the skills needed for personal growth and for fuelling the nation’s future economy.

The organisation delivers a comprehensive suite of services, from strategic frameworks such as the FET Strategy 2020‑2024 and the Further Education and Training Strategy Consultation 2025‑2029, to funding initiatives like the Reach Fund 2025 and the FET Funding Model Review 2022. It also provides performance monitoring through the FET Performance System, guidance on Universal Design for Learning, and quality‑assurance manuals for craft apprenticeships. Through its Skills and Labour Market Research Unit, SOLAS publishes research that informs policy and practice across further and higher education. With over 25,000 courses, 339,000 beneficiaries and collaboration with 16 education and training boards, SOLAS is at the heart of Ireland’s lifelong learning ecosystem.
