Company Description
Galway Rape Crisis Centre (GRCC) is a Galway-city-based non-governmental organisation that has been supporting survivors of sexual violence and abuse across the West of Ireland since 1984. The centre offers a confidential, 24-hour helpline as the first point of contact for anyone affected, alongside a round-the-clock call-out service for those who have recently experienced assault or rape.
GRCC's specialist services include one-to-one counselling for survivors and their supporters, Garda and court accompaniment, and a comprehensive education and training programme. Through the Galway Sexual Assault Treatment Unit (SATU), which opened in 2009, the centre works with Gardai and medical staff to provide multidisciplinary psychological support 365 days a year. Dedicated SATU support workers, volunteers and fundraising volunteers underpin these vital services, enabling the organisation to maintain a wide-range of free, survivor-centred assistance.
Funded largely by community donations and charitable fundraising initiatives, GRCC relies on the generosity of individuals and businesses to continue its life-changing work for those in need.
