Glenbower Wood & Lake Company Limited by Guarantee is a community‑driven charitable organisation that looks after the historic Glenbower woodland and its former lake in County Cork. Its core mission is the restoration, conservation and public enjoyment of this ancient forest, which has been in private hands since 1182 and has been community‑owned and managed by a volunteer committee since 1995.

The company oversees the upkeep of a diverse natural habitat – home to 39 species of moss, a stand of Sequoiadendron giganteum (the largest tree in the wood) and a range of historic features such as a holy well, a mass rock and the remains of a corn‑mill lake that once powered the mill behind the Old Thatch pub. By coordinating volunteer programmes, educational visits and conservation projects, Glenbower Wood & Lake provides locals, schools and nature enthusiasts with safe, guided access to the woodlands and opportunities to help preserve this unique landscape for future generations.
