BACKWATER ARTISTS

Backwater Artists is a cornerstone of the Cork arts community, offering a vibrant hub where visual artists can create, exhibit and develop professional practices. Housed in a repurposed three-storey warehouse on Wandesford Quay, the organisation provides a stable, supportive environment that nurtures both emerging and established talent.

The group programmes a year-round calendar of exhibitions, workshops, artist talks and curator visits - recent highlights include "Diverge" by Michaela McCann, the "Becoming Plant" series with Siobhán Collins, and the Anna Barden Memorial Exhibition. In addition to its public programme, Backwater Artists runs a members' exhibition, an online shop, and the Emerging Curator Award, giving artists and curators further avenues to showcase their work and gain recognition.
