Company Description
Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann is Ireland’s leading non‑profit cultural movement dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional Irish music. Founded in 1951, the organisation now operates through more than 450 local branches, delivering over 1 500 classes each week and attracting half‑a‑million visitors to its annual Fleadh festivals.
The heart of Comhaltas lies in its extensive educational programme: branch‑based instrumental and vocal classes, the Structured Traditional Music (SCT) graded performance exams, TTCT teacher‑training courses, and the week‑long Scoil Éigse summer school. In addition, it organises a vibrant calendar of events – from county‑level Fleadhanna to national and international festivals – and supports community‑driven projects that celebrate Irish language and heritage.
With a worldwide network spanning five continents, Comhaltas connects Irish communities at home and abroad, offering musicians of all ages and abilities the opportunity to learn, perform and keep the tradition alive.
