Limerick Community Based Educational Initiative Company Limited By Guarantee, trading as Engage in Education, is a charitable organisation founded in 1991 to give disadvantaged students a realistic pathway to higher-level study and sustainable careers. Drawing on early grants from Charles Feeney and Atlantic Resources, Engage now delivers a blend of financial assistance, personalised study support and mentorship that bridges the gap between school and university life.

The programme works directly with undergraduates - more than 400 students to date - offering tuition-related funding, one-to-one guidance and practical workshops that address the unique challenges faced by those from less-privileged backgrounds. By fostering a supportive community of peers and professionals, Engage helps learners secure graduate-level positions rather than unskilled work, as reflected in the testimonies of alumni from the University of Limerick, Limerick Institute of Technology, University College Cork and other institutions.

Based in Limerick, the initiative is overseen by a dedicated board of directors and benefits from the generosity of sponsors such as the Department of Further & Higher Education, J.P. McManus Charitable Foundation and PwC. Its focus remains on empowering students to achieve their full potential through education.
