Company Description
Clare Island Ferry and Clew Bay Cruises Limited is a family-run maritime service owned by Brian and Alan O'Grady, whose ancestors have operated the Clare Island crossing since 1880. Based at Roonagh Quay, just west of Louisburgh, the company provides a fast, 10-minute ferry link between the mainland and Clare Island, with year-round sailings and the most frequent departures between May and September.
The fleet includes the Pirate Queen and Clew Bay Queen for regular passenger routes to Clare Island and Inishturk, the Sea Sprinter which makes the crossing in just nine minutes, and the Very Likely, available for private charters. In addition to passenger services, the company runs scheduled cargo sailings to Inishturk and Clare Island on Tuesdays and Fridays, and offers on-demand charter trips to Achill Island. Recent additions include a Heritage Tour and Whiskey-Tasting experience for groups, showcasing the island's culture and the forthcoming Clare Island whiskey matured at sea.
Clare Island Ferry also supports visitors in planning their stay, providing information on accommodation, activities and seasonal travel tips, while maintaining a strong community focus through charitable contributions.
