Clans of Ireland (Finte na hÉireann) is an independent, permanent authority established in 1989 to authenticate and maintain the Register of Irish clans and historic families. Operating as a charitable company limited by guarantee, the organisation works with the Council of Irish Chiefs and Chieftains and enjoys the patronage of former President Michael D. Higgins. Its core mission is to revive and celebrate Ireland's clan heritage by providing a recognised platform for families whose surnames are documented in Ireland prior to 1691.
