Company Description
Cumann Le Seandacht Atha Cliath - the Old Dublin Society - is a volunteer-run organisation that brings together anyone with a passion for Dublin's past. Founded in 1934, the Society provides a friendly forum for members of all ages to research, record and share the city's history, fostering a community of kindred spirits who love Dublin as much as they love its stories.
The Society's core activities include a twice-yearly series of talks, held on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from February to May and again from September to November. These evenings, which begin at 6 p.m. and are free to attend, offer lively presentations by members and invited guests. In the summer, the Society organises outings to historic sites across Dublin city and county, giving participants a chance to explore the capital's heritage in person. Since 1938 the Society has also published the *Dublin Historical Record*, an illustrated, fully indexed journal of its talks that is available for purchase and online viewing via JSTOR.
Based in Dublin, the Old Dublin Society meets at the Dublin City Library & Archive and is easily reached by public transport, making it an accessible hub for anyone keen to discover and celebrate Dublin's rich history.
