Company Description
Glounthaune Community Association (GCA) is a volunteer‑run hub dedicated to enriching the lives of residents in Glounthaune village. Working in partnership with Glounthaune Men’s Shed, Meals on Wheels and Tidy Towns, the association organises a lively programme of events – from the St Patrick’s Day celebration and Upstart Festival to a monthly Little Free Library and a festive Christmas Craft Fair – all designed to bring neighbours together to live, work, learn and play.
The centre, housed in the historic Old School House by the waterside, offers a diverse range of classes and activities for all ages. Children can enjoy Irish dancing, kids’ yoga, guitar, acting, ballet and language‑therapy sessions, while adults can join yoga, Qigong, Tai Chi, sewing, Zumba, bridge, watercolour art and a support group for Parkinson’s. The space also welcomes church gatherings, birthday parties and a variety of community groups, including the Harpers Island Wetlands volunteers, a sensory garden team and a first‑responders network.
Supported by Cork County Council grants, SEACAD funding, the National Lottery and local donors, GCA continues to foster a vibrant, inclusive community spirit throughout Glounthaune.
