DISABILITY FEDERATION OF IRELAND

The Disability Federation of Ireland (DFI) is the national voice for disability organisations, championing the rights and wellbeing of people with disabilities across the island. Through robust policy and advocacy work, DFI engages with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, influences national legislation such as the European Accessibility Act, and provides expert analysis of strategies like the National Human Rights Strategy for Disabled People 2025-2030.

DFI's services span disability equality training, community-focused health initiatives, and member engagement programmes, including a popular podcast that highlights lived experience. Its project portfolio includes Mapping Services for neurological conditions, the Freedom Tech scheme that promotes affordable assistive technology, a partnership with Wicklow County Council's DISC, and the development of user-centred Personal Budgets for long-term care.

By uniting a diverse network of member organisations, DFI amplifies collective expertise, produces evidence-based reports such as its 2024 Annual Report, and drives forward-looking campaigns that address employment, accessibility and the economic cost of disability for all Irish citizens.
