Company Description
The Irish Traditional Music Archive (ITMA) - Taisce Cheol Dúchais Éireann - is Ireland's national repository for the music, song and dance of the Irish tradition. Drawing on a vast collection of sound recordings, books, videos, manuscripts and images, ITMA digitises and preserves these materials so they remain accessible to scholars, musicians, educators and anyone with an interest in the living heritage of Irish culture.
The archive offers a fully searchable online platform where users can explore audio and video playlists, view image galleries, read printed and manuscript sources, and access learning resources for tunes and songs. Curated digital exhibitions, series such as *Saothar* (contemporary compositions), *Drawing from the Well* (artist collaborations), and thematic collections like the Michael McNamara Sound Collection enrich the experience. ITMA also provides a personal dashboard for members to save favourite items, and it welcomes donations that fund ongoing digitisation and free universal access.
Based in Dublin, the Archive operates as a charitable organisation, relying on the support of donors and the wider community to continue its mission of safeguarding Ireland's traditional music for present and future generations.
