Company Description
Parkinson's Ireland is a national charity, founded in 1987, dedicated to supporting anyone affected by Parkinson's disease - from those newly diagnosed to long-term sufferers, their families and care partners. The organisation's core mission is to provide timely information, practical assistance and a sense of community, helping people live well with this progressive neurodegenerative condition.
A wide range of free services is delivered through a national network of local branches. These include a dedicated Parkinson's nurse helpline, online and in-person exercise classes, mindfulness and yoga sessions, dietician callback support, and regular support-group meetings. Specialist programmes such as the Newly Diagnosed Programme, Zoom clinics with nurse specialists, and the Walking Football as Medicine initiative further enrich the support offering. Through its Research & Impact Committee, Parkinson's Ireland funds and disseminates cutting-edge research, keeping members informed of global advances and working towards better treatments and a cure.
Funded entirely by donations and fundraising events, the charity relies on the generosity of supporters and offers a Lifetime Membership scheme to sustain its services. With branches operating in Cork, Meath, the North West and other regions, Parkinson's Ireland serves people living with Parkinson's across the whole of Ireland.
