THE IRISH HOSPICE FOUNDATION

The Irish Hospice Foundation is Ireland's national charity dedicated to improving end-of-life and bereavement care for everyone. Through advocacy, research and education, the organisation works to ensure that every death is approached with dignity and that those left behind receive the support they need to grieve well.

Key services include a free Bereavement Support Line, run in partnership with the HSE, and an Information and Support Line that offers sign-posting and practical resources on end-of-life care. The Foundation also funds the Nurses for Night Care programme, providing expert nursing support at home for people dying from non-cancer illnesses, and offers the "Think Ahead" planning tool to help individuals record their wishes for emergencies, serious illness or after death. Its Arts & Creative Engagement programmes enable people of all ages to explore loss through creative expression, while postgraduate training and the Final Journeys programme equip healthcare professionals with specialised skills. Through research reports and policy advocacy, the Irish Hospice Foundation influences national strategies to improve dying, death and bereavement services across the country.
