IRISH SUDDEN INFANT DEATH ASSOCIATION

The Irish Sudden Infant Death Association, trading as FirstLight, is a national charity that provides free, professional support to bereaved parents and families who have lost a child aged 0-18 years. As a trauma-informed organisation, FirstLight offers confidential crisis-intervention and psychotherapy services delivered by a team of fully accredited, insured counsellors who operate nationwide across Ireland. In addition to one-to-one counselling, the charity supplies a range of online resources and articles to help families cope with grief, and it runs training programmes for frontline professionals who encounter bereaved families.

FirstLight's mission is to deliver timely, appropriate support from the first encounter through to ongoing care, to raise awareness of its services, to equip professionals with specialised training, and to promote research and preventative campaigns on child mortality.
