Company Description
The Tree Council of Ireland is a national charitable organisation dedicated to promoting the planting, establishment and conservation of trees and woodlands across the country. Since its founding in 1985, the Council works with schools, communities, local authorities and corporate partners to foster a vibrant tree culture through action and awareness.
Key initiatives include the Tree Sponsorship Scheme, which lets individuals honour special occasions or loved ones by having a tree planted in a chosen name, and the annual National Tree Week (8-15 March) - the largest tree celebration in Ireland, organised in partnership with Coillte. Each October, National Tree Day engages primary schools with hands-on activities and tree-planting projects, while the Tree Project Award recognises towns and villages that demonstrate outstanding tree stewardship. The Council also maintains the Tree Register of Ireland, a GPS-mapped database of over 11 000 recorded trees, and runs a shop supporting its mission.
Through these programmes, the Tree Council of Ireland serves anyone with an interest in Ireland's natural heritage, from families and educators to community groups and businesses, helping them connect with and protect the nation's trees.
